Your Challenge

EXP Services Inc. is searching for a Senior Laboratory Technician to join our Geotechnical team in our Windsor, ON office. The successful applicant will be joining a diverse engineering group in Central Canada poised for growth and challenging opportunities well into the future.

Your Responsibilities

•Conduct and coordinate a wide variety of geotechnical investigations and testing projects;
•Perform laboratory testing using MTO, CSA and ASTM standards;
•Conducts site and QA/QC inspections such as insitu density and compaction testing;
•Concrete, mortar and grout sampling and testing;
•Asphalt sampling and testing;
•Assist with the preparation, coordination and carrying out of laboratory testing;
•Prepare brief daily reports and maintain calibration records and certification status;
•Provide technical guidance to technicians;
•Collaborate with the geotechnical group in applying and improving the work process;
•Prepare/draft geotechnical engineering reports under the supervision of senior engineers and project managers.

The Skills, Knowledge, and Ability We Seek

•College diploma in civil engineering or equivalent experience;
•5-10 years of pertinent experience;
•CCIL/CSA certified for concrete, aggregate and asphalt;
•Experience in total station and survey, an asset;
•Knowledge of MTO (LS), CCIL, CSA and ASTM testing procedures is preferred but not required;
•Strong attention to detail and accuracy;
•Able to supervise testing for Concrete, Asphalt and Aggregates, and manage a laboratory;
•Team player with proven ability to work independently or as a member of project teams;
•Excellent organizing, interpersonal written and verbal communication skills;
•Strong computer skills using work processing, spreadsheet, and graphics applications such as MS Word, Excel and AutoCAD;
•Proficient problem-solving skills;
•Proven analytical and negotiation skills;
•Strong report writing skills;
•Working at Heights will be required;
•Must possess valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle to travel to job sites.
