The Occupational Therapist (OT) is an integral member of the Occupational Therapy service, Allied Health and clinical programs in which care is provided. Through the provision of patient and non-patient care activities, the OT enhances the quality of life of patients by: providing OT therapy assessment, treatment and education in individual and group format for Geriatric rehab clients. The OT collaborates with the inter-professional team to provide patient focused care; communicates effectively with patients, families, and team members; participates in program planning, development and professional and hospital initiatives that support quality management and research. The OT complies with and shows commitment to patient safety responsibilities and corresponding hospital plans, policies and procedures in order to ensure a safe environment for patients.


  • Successful completion of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy (BScOT) or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in the geriatric rehabilitation is required
  • Registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (B Level or C Level) Heart Saver Plus Canada
  • Member of Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists or Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists
  • Experience in prescribing ADL equipment including wheelchairs
  • ADP authorization considered an asset
  • Experience working with medically complex frail elderly
  • Experience as member of interprofessional team required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) required
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Complies with the legislation outlined in the Regulated Health Professions Act, (1991)
  • Complies with the Code of Ethics and Rules of Conduct of the Canadian Occupational Therapy Association
  • Demonstrates competence with departmental and hospital safety, emergency and infection control procedures
  • Ability to exercise sound clinical judgment and to function in an independent, self-directed manner
  • Computer proficiency require
  • Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
