The Nurse Practitioner will utilize their advanced nursing knowledge and skill to direct and provide optimal care to patients referred for specialized mental health and addiction related assessment, treatment, and ongoing care and support as well as to provide education and capacity building to staff and physicians regarding addictions and mental health care. The position will focus on patients admitted to hospital who have support needs for opiate use disorder, alcohol use disorder and other substance use disorders including nicotine. This position will practice at a high level of autonomy and will formulate clinical decisions and development of a patient care plan.  The incumbent will be the key liaison among PRHC physicians and nursing staff and the RAAM Clinic team, Fourcast, and other community partners to ensure seamless care.  The Nurse Practitioner cultivates a holistic approach to nursing practice addressing health needs and assisting in the development, implementation, and Quality Assurance of Centre services and programs.

This position is ideal for a NP with a passion for working with concurrent disorders and experience with substance abuse, addiction, withdrawal management, harm reduction, psychological histories and mental health issues.


  • Current certification as a Registered Nurse, Extended Class from the College of Nurses of Ontario required
  • Master's degree in nursing required        
  • Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner Certificate required
  • Membership with CNA or RNAO preferred
  • BCLS
  • Previous clinical experience with concurrent disorders/substance use and withdrawal management required
  • Demonstrated expertise in clinical assessment, management and counselling in a broad range of mental health and addiction care issues
