The Opportunity

We are currently looking to hire a Child and Youth Care Worker in Edmonton, AB. This will be a Casual opportunity. Reporting to Field Supervisor, Service Delivery, the Child and Youth Care Worker serves to guide children and youth to achieve personal success by nurturing their physical, social, cultural, and emotional well-being.

Availability Requirements

This position will be casual and should have availability for a mix of weekdays, evenings, and weekend hours.

What You’ll Do

• Establish a relationship to guide and support youth through mentorship, role modelling, and positive reinforcement
• Supervise youth at home and in the community
• Complete and maintain documentation of daily activities and observations
• Participate in the Care Team through the ongoing development of care plans and programs

• Perform routine housekeeping activities

Who You Are

As a Child and Youth Care Worker, you possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Direct experience working with youth with complex behavioural and mental health needs

• Knowledge of child and youth care mental wellness practices
• Knowledge of processes and procedures for providing effective home care
• Trauma Informed Care practices
• Six (6) months of related experience working with youth
• Completion of Degree/Diploma in Human Services field

• Standard First Aid and CPR Level CPR + AED
• Police Information Check; including Vulnerable Sector Check (within the last 3 months)
• Children Services Intervention Record Check (within the last 3 months)
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license, current drivers abstract, a reliable vehicle and auto insurance would be assets
• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Strong computer and technology skills

Training related to the following is considered an important asset:

• Suicide Prevention
• Mental Health First Aid

Availability

This position will be casual and should have availability for Monday-Friday 2-10 pm & 3-9 pm, Saturday & Sunday 9am- 9pm, or all the days in the week 3-11 pm or 4pm- 12 am.
