Job Details Number of Vacancies: 1 Profession: Other Organization: Saskatchewan Health Authority Facility Name: OTHER Employment Type: Permanent Employment Term: Full Time Posting Date: February 12, 2024 Closing Date: August 12, 2024 0:00 Job Description The Clinical Doctoral Scientists represent a significant and important component of clinicians within the Provincial Program of Laboratory Medicine and are key leaders in Saskatchewan health care, collaborating with system leaders to achieve our province's healthcare goals. Reporting to a Dyad Leadership team within Laboratory Medicine, the Scientist is responsible for providing consultation and liaison with physicians and other health care practitioners in the ordering and interpretation of specialty laboratory testing to ensure optimal patient care. The Clinical Doctoral Scientist is also responsible for the oversight of on-going service operations, test development and evaluation and quality assurance/accreditation for assigned Laboratories will support and participate in applicable research activities within Laboratory Medicine and the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. The specific accountabilities of the Clinical Doctoral Scientist include: • Initiate test development and clinical guidelines in consultation with the Medical Director, Clinical Director, ISA Director and Laboratory Manager. • Provide leadership to a team of Registered Technologists in the assigned laboratories. • Oversee Laboratory technical operations as defined by the Division Head. • Assume general responsibility for liaisons with physician clients. • Supervise the evaluation and development of the clinical laboratory methods • Participate in quality management by involvement in QC, 5S, Lean, 6 Sigma., autoverification and other system development as needs arise • Ensure critical parameters like reference interval, critical values etc. are current and up-to-date • Review test results to provide clinical interpretation/judgements for clinicians and other health providers. • Establish standards and practices within their area of specialty and will develop and implement testing protocols and clinical guidelines, including quality assurance methodology development suitable to the laboratory applications. • Participate in and/or direct research. • Provide instruction of laboratory staff and formal instruction of university students. • Plan, organize, implement, monitor, evaluate and report of position responsibilities, including course correction as necessary. • Contribute to the development of the strategic direction for the area, through influencing and advising on current and emerging issues and trends. Job Qualifications Qualifications Education: - PhD in the required biological science (Microbiology, Clinical Chemistry, Clinical Cytogenetics etc.) and be Certified or a Fellow of (or be eligible for certification or fellowship by) the relevant Academy or College (Canadian Academy of Clinical Biochemists, Canadian College of Medical Geneticists etc.) and be eligible for membership of the SHA Practitioner Staff. Experience: - Prior experience in the relevant scientific field in institutions with a work practice similar to Provincial Laboratory Medicine, would be considered advantageous.
