Position Purpose Summary:

Responsible to ensure that spiritual and religious care is available to all Long-Term Care residents, families and staff of William Booth Special Care Home

This is a 12 month fixed-term contract, with renewable option. Hours are part time at 32.5 hours per week (negotiable). Shifts: Days 0900 - 1600.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To fulfill the stated Mission of The Salvation Army and William Booth Special Care Home.
  • Provides/facilitates direct spiritual care to Long-term care residents, families and staff.
  • Coordinates the development, provision and evaluation of related programs and services.
  • Actively participant in the drafting and revision of policies and protocols related to spiritual care services.
  • Liaises with other faith related services in the Regina area.
  • Collates and submits required Spiritual Care program data to The Salvation Army.
  • Active participant in the development and monitoring of the Strategic Planning cycle for the facility
  • Provides input and guidance related to Quality indicators regarding Spiritual services (e.g. Resident/Family Satisfaction Surveys, Staff Satisfaction Surveys).
  • Responsible to facilitate ongoing self-education to appropriate topics.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Certifications:

  • Spiritual Care and/or Chaplaincy Training
  • Other theological education/training will be considered.

Experience:

  • Three to five years of spiritual care experience.
  • Experience in a long-term care setting preferred.
  • Other combinations of education and experience will be considered.

PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Must adhere to established Confidentiality protocols including completion of an Oath of Confidentiality.
  • Ability to speak, read and write in English is essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Computer literacy to at least a basic level.
  • Physically and emotionally capable of performing stated position functions.

Successful candidates, prior to hiring, will be required to provide:

  • This position is subject to successful completion of a Criminal Record check.
  • Education verification
  • This position requires the successful candidate to have a valid driver's license and an acceptable drivers abstract. The successful candidate would have to provide proof upon being hired.
