The primary purpose of MLTC is to serve those First Nations in their aspirations for cultural, economic and political autonomy. As a private sector employer engaged primarily in promoting and serving the interests of the member First Nations, MLTC asserts its right to provide preferential treatment to First Nations people, giving them priority in decisions on employment matters such as hiring, and this can extend to measures such as opening competitions only to First Nations people. This competition is open to all applicants; and Preference will be given to qualified First Nations applicants or other Indigenous applicants who self-declare as being a First Nations person or of other Indigenous ancestry; MLTC Health & Social Department is seeking to fill a full-time, permanent position of Advanced Practice Nursing Supervisor. The Advanced Practice Nursing Supervisor reports to the Nursing Program Director and the overall health strategic direction is from the Senior Director of Health. The role of the MLTC Community Nursing Program is to support community nursing activities that assist the MLFN’s to achieve their health goals based on the MLTC Health Plan. The MLFN’s vision of health, healing and wholeness is rooted in the traditional values of Cree and Dene cultures. The MLTC Community Nursing Program shares the belief with the MLFN’s that this vision can be achieved through a team-based community development approach that builds capacity in the individual, family and community. The Meadow Lake Tribal Council Nursing Program plays a supportive, supervisory, collaborative and pro-active role in the delivery of the community nursing services in the (8) Meadow Lake First Nations that are meeting quality and accreditation standards. DUTIES (include but not limited to): Key Role: Supervises, assesses, facilitates, monitors and evaluates the unique practice of primary care nurses and monitors their role in meeting primary care nursing service needs of the community. Provides professional nursing support, nursing mentorship, program support, employee evaluations, leadership and supervision to the primary care nurse employees. Clinical expert and resource person the specialized practice of primary care nursing, knowledgeable in community health nursing practice Monitors Primary Care nursing practice in accordance with Accreditation Standards Supports Program Planning: Identifies potential gaps in health services Actively participates in the MLTC nursing recruitment, retention, training, and orientation. Plan, assess and recommend training needs with support all nursing staff at MLTC / MLFN Participates in development and implementation of nursing program policies and procedures. Job Qualifications Minimum: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (RN) o RN’s willing to obtain AAP (Advance Authorized Practice) or NP (Nurse Practitioner) designation will be supported to obtain this while working in the RN scope are encouraged to apply. Registered with CRNS (College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan) Supervisory / Nurse in Charge experience – 1 year Knowledgeable / experience in emergency, community health nursing practice, communicable disease programs and home care would be an asset. Preferred: RN with AAP (Advance Authorized Practice) or, RN with NP (Nurse Practitioner) designation Clinical expert and resource person in the specialized practice of primary care nursing. Knowledgeable / experience in emergency, community health nursing practice, communicable disease programs and home care would be an asset. Supervisory / Nurse in Charge experience – 3 years plus Experienced in working in northern First Nation communities. RNs with Health Science Disciplines – i.e., Physio Therapists, Emergency Medical Technician Advanced and Public Health Nurse. Other: Ability to speak/understand Cree/Dene and cultural competence is considered a valuable asset. Ability to travel extensively and possession of a valid driver’s license. Proficient with computers, i.e., Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook. Demonstrate capability and performance in the areas of: working with minimal supervision, excellent organizational skills, interpersonal skills, communication skills, initiative and adaptability, prioritizing multiple demands, working independently.
