QUALIFICATIONS:

·Registration and good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario.

·CPR or BCLS certification mandatory.

·Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal/written), and organization skills.

·Demonstrates ability to handle stress and conflict management in a professional, effective manner.

·Demonstrates ability to work effectively and accurately, both autonomously and as an effective team member.

  • Must be eager to learn new techniques.
  • Completion of cross sectional anatomy course an asset.
  • Completion of contrast injection course an asset
  • Commitment to meet the goals and objectives of the department.

·Demonstrates ability to organize work, and set priorities, managing time effectively.

·Commitment to meet the goals and objectives of the department.

·Must be flexible, punctual and have an excellent attendance record.

·Ability to work all shifts.

HOURS:

·All shifts Monday to Sunday inclusive (days, evenings, nights, weekends and statutory holidays) as per operational needs

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

·Must meet a standard of education with the required knowledge, skills and judgment to perform competently and professionally as a Medical Radiation Technologist

·Must ensure the care provided is safe, appropriate, tailored, timely, and maximize the potential of the available equipment and resources.

·Must respect patient rights and needs, and foster an environment that encourages the patient¿s involvement in their own care. This commitment is extended to patients from all cultures and backgrounds, ensuring all are treated with dignity, equity and respect.

·Must participate in quality control, quality assurance and improvement programs

·Be able to organize, prioritize and co-ordinate the scheduling of procedures, and communicate with all areas of the hospital in a professional manner

·Must operate under the most current Ministry of Health guidelines in regards to radiation safety.

·Must adhere to the standards of practice and code ethics outlined by the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario and ALARA Principle, applying their knowledge of radiation effects and risks to minimize dose to their patients, other healthcare colleagues and the public.

·Should educate the patient, provider and public on the benefits and risks of imaging and therapy through different means and situations

  • Provides optimum patient care and demonstrates a professional manner in the work setting.
  • Actively participates in team building concepts, and development of departmental goals.
  • Operates and maintains equipment via participation in Quality Control and Quality Assurance tests.
  • Participates in teaching and training students and hospital employees, and communicates with Clinical Coordinator on student progress/problems.
  • Organizes, prioritizes and co-ordinates scheduling of procedures, communicates verbally with appropriate personnel re: procedure types, lab results, equipment failures, policies and procedures.
  • Assists, instructs, and educates patients prior to, during, and after procedure.
  • Assists nurses/radiologist with patient and room preparation and clean up.
  • Assists in gathering and coding requisitions, maintaining records and data entry. Manipulates, archives and stores medical images.
  • Performs Computed Tomography procedures to produce imaging, and high quality diagnostic radiographs via practice of radiation safety procedures and adherence to a strict code of aseptic techniques.
