EPR Project Manager I (Job ID: 3028)

Unity Health Toronto is embarking on a multi-year digital, clinical transformation project to implement a new electronic patient record solution across all sites. The Electronic Patient Record (EPR) project is a pillar of enabling exemplary patient experience and quality of care and therefore see this not as an information technology initiative, but as one founded in clinical transformation and care redesign.

Job Profile

The EPR Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating the cutover planning process for Unity Health's EPR implementation. This includes developing details project plans, working with operational leads to ensure appropriate resource allocation, facilitating cutover dry runs and supporting on the day of go-live. This role will work closely with Change Management and Education team in ensuring all to ensure alignment with the overall project timelines and goals

Main Responsibilities
Coordinate Cutover Planning

  • Plan, oversee, and document all aspects of the cutover planning process.
  • Review project documentation developed by Epic
  • Develop detailed cutover project plan
  • Liaise regularly with users to provide project status, manage expectations and concerns proactively
  • Coordinate of operations Lead and project cutover analysts via team meetings and/or regular project progress reports to ensure active input on project planning, scheduling and completion of associated assigned duties
  • Work with organizational leadership to ensure appropriate resource allocation
  • Ensure appropriate mechanisms are in place for the optimal delivery of cutover, including best practices guidelines and tools for the effective management and execution of projects
  • Delegate tasks and implements strategies to build/foster an effective team environment and a culture built on respect/trust
  • Provide knowledge transfer for the project team to facilitate the optimal and timely completion of projects

Departmental and other responsibilities

  • Participates in required meetings and/or on committees which may have an impact on project /corporate initiatives
  • Support and project manage other change management and education activities as assigned
  • Initiates and develops respectful and collaborative working relationships with peers/associates across the Hospitals to foster a more productive and satisfying environment for staff and patients
  • Initiates and develops effective working relationships with external professional associations and peers in other health care institutions to keep up to date on current/emerging legislation, developments and trends

Performs cross-functional and other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a recognized Bachelor's Degree / Diploma from a University or Community College is required.
  • Completion of Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or working towards the certification is preferred
  • One (1) to two (2) years project management experience in a health care environment an asset
  • Some experience in facilitation, collaboration and negotiation with multiple stakeholders/service providers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate information/ideas, in a manner that is easily understood by others
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal and listening skills with the ability to effectively interact with staff all levels.
  • Excellent computer skills e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Microsoft Project,
  • Good presentation and negotiation skills
  • Excellent problem recognition and problem solving skills
  • Good ability to work in high pressure environment
  • Very good organizational and time management skills with the ability to deal with situations where information is difficult to obtain, complex or ambiguous

  • Detail oriented with very good analytical skills related to proposal development/project management
