This is a hybrid opportunity based out of dentalcorp's Toronto Support Centre. Reporting to the Senior Director, Strategic Sourcing, you will be responsible for leading the category strategy development, strategic sourcing, negotiation, contracting and supplier performance management for a complex portfolio of goods and services. The purpose of the position is to create value for dental practices, reduce total cost of ownership, and use negotiation and sourcing strategies, tools and processes, and mitigate risk through contract development.

The Category Manager understands external variables, learns the landscape, requirements and priorities of our practices and develops relationships to successfully develop category strategies that utilize various value levers to deliver improved cost, reduced risk, and more efficient programs to our dental practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Sourcing

  • Develop and execute on end-to-end sourcing opportunities, as required, to drive cost savings and process efficiencies
  • Negotiate contracts

Project & Change Management

  • Responsible for the end-to-end implementation of each sourced category across 500+ locations
  • Work closely with practices to transition incumbent suppliers to new programs
  • Facilitate contract terminations with incumbent suppliers and implement transition plans to ensure continuity of services

Category Management

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive category strategies based on relevant market requirements and influences
  • Manage the category strategy to drive category transformation, best practices, savings, and value creation initiatives
  • Act as primary interface for key categories with the practices
  • Supplier relationship management delivery to practices
  • Owns and manages supplier score carding process
  • Owns supplier segmentation within their categories
  • Monitors and advises on non-compliant spend
  • Performs spend analysis, market research, and monitors industry trends for assigned categories

Supplier Performance

  • Develop KPIs and individual supplier performance scorecards
  • Host business review meetings - performance, continuous improvement, innovation
  • Support issue escalation

Contract Management

  • Manage key contract deliverables, ensuring compliance to SLAs and KPIs
  • Negotiate contract amendments and addendums, as required
  • Facilitate contract terminations, as required

What we're looking for

  • Minimum of 4 to 5 years of experience in managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders
  • Managing these complex projects in procurement environment is an asset
  • More than 5 years contract negotiation experience
  • Proven experience as a Category Management and/or end to end Procurement: sourcing, negotiation, rollout and implementation
  • Ability to lead and champion multiple sourcing initiatives concurrently
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple stakeholders at one time
  • Demonstrated proactivity and follow up skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing a high level of customer service & continuous improvement
  • Excellent process/project management skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills combined with analytical abilities
  • Demonstrated experience in supplier relationship management
  • Demonstrates patience, tenacity, and resiliency in dealing with fast-paced, demanding situations
  • Solid knowledge of MS Office
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent combination of education and experience; CSCMP designation is an asset
  • Bilingual - French is an asset
