Breast Center Technologist MI Mammography (Job ID: 2198)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs and assesses radiographic procedures to produce imaging, and high quality diagnostic radiographs via practice of radiation safety procedures and adherence to a strict code of aseptic techniques.
  • Provides optimum patient care and demonstrates a professional manner in the work setting.
  • Actively participates in team building concepts, and development of departmental goals.
  • Operates and maintains equipment via participation in Quality Control and Quality Assurance tests.
  • Participates in teaching and training students and hospital employees, and communicates with Clinical Coordinator on student progress/problems.
  • Provides educational sessions and seminars.
  • Organizes, prioritizes and co-ordinates scheduling of procedures, communicates verbally with appropriate personnel re: procedure types, lab results, equipment failures, policies and procedures.
  • Assists, instructs, and educates patients prior to, during, and after procedure.
  • Assists nurses/radiologist with patient and room preparation and clean up.
  • Assists in gathering and coding requisitions, maintaining records and data entry.
  • Manipulates, archives and stores medical images.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Registration and good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
  • Certificate in Breast Imaging an asset.
  • Registered with CAR required
  • 1 year of experience in mammo required
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal/written), and organization skills.
  • Understanding and commitment to the Hospital's Mission and Values.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle stress and conflict management in a professional, effective manner.
  • Excellent problem recognition and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and accurately, both autonomously and as an effective team member.
  • Ability to meet patient/staff needs in an efficient manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize work, and set priorities, managing time effectively.
  • Commitment to meet the goals and objectives of the department.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service.
  • Must be flexible, punctual and have an excellent attendance record.
  • Must be eager and self motivated to learn new techniques.
  • Completion of cross sectional anatomy course an asset.

HOURS:

1) All scheduled shifts Monday - Friday
2) All scheduled shifts Saturday and Sunday
