On a daily basis the RPN will enhance the effective management and quality of nursing practice in keeping with the standards and expectations set out by governing bodies and internal policies and standards of care.

Duties and Responsibilities
● Responsible for coordinating and implementing best practices in the Resident Assessment Instrument-Minimum data Set (RAI-MDS) program, providing support for accurate RAI applications, assessments, audits, monitoring quality indicators, completion of data submission process and staff education.

● Work as an integral part of an inter-disciplinary team for resident care by coordinating resident care conferences and organizing and chairing weekly interdisciplinary team meetings.

Provide education and training on RAI MDS, ensuring accuracy, efficient data collection processes, assessment completion and data utilization

● Ensuring exceptional resident care is provided while following protocols and maintaining physicians' orders.

● Observing, reporting and recording vital signs, symptoms and conditions of residents, and initiating remedial health measures where appropriate, medication administration .

● Organizing and directing functions and activities related to provision of care to residents.
● Assisting in the management of the work of nursing and personal care staff.
● Training and professional development of new staff, referring concerns to the Director of Care.
● A serving heart and a passion for caring for seniors.
● Previous similar experience in long-term care an asset, with comprehensive knowledge of duties.
● Ability to work individually and as part of a team, to prioritize tasks in order of urgency.
● Excellent communication (computer, verbal and written) and comprehension skills.
● Developed creative problem solving skills to look at the "big picture".

The qualified candidate will have:

  • 3-5 years experience in Long Term Care, experience with MDS an asset
  • Current Registration with CNO in good standing
  • Knowledge in nursing rehabilitation and working OT and PT
  • Strong analytical and assessment skills
  • Ability to lead training and education with Adult learners
  • Knowledge of: InterRAI suite of tools, MDS/RUG III patient classification systems.
  • Effective communication skills
