DEPARTMENT: FACILITIES MANAGEMENT

POSITION:LICENSED JOURNEYPERSON (PLUMBER) – INTERPROVINCIAL RED SEAL PERMANENT FULL TIME

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The licensed Journeyperson (Plumber), is responsible for providing corrective and preventative maintenance, installation of equipment and specialized mechanical support to other staff within the Facilities Management Department,

QUALIFICATIONS:

∙Must possess a strong knowledge plumbing systems including installation and repair , in alignment with the Ontario Building Code, and CSA standards

∙Must possess a strong knowledge of energy conservation methods

∙Proficient in the use of building automation systems required (Honeywell)

∙Demonstrated renovation experience an asset

∙Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blue prints

∙Estimating quantities of materials required and preparing purchase requisitions

∙Perform preventative maintenance on plant equipment required

∙Demonstrated knowledge of emergency backup electrical supply systems

∙Complete preventative maintenance on patient care equipment

∙Ability to repair, adjust and lubricate machinery required

∙Proficient at documenting work completed through a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)

∙Be aware and knowledgeable in safe material handling techniques and be aware of the safe operation of all material handling equipment

∙Perform other related tasks and functions as required relative to the nature of the position

∙Plumbing, electrical and HVAC knowledge required

∙Plan installations by studying blueprints and work sketches

∙Estimating material requirements and costs and preparing requisitions

EDUCATION:

∙Graduate of grade 12 is required

∙Current Ministry of College and Universities (of Ontario) certificate of qualification in the certified trade of plumber, electrician, millwright, refrigeration, etc. (red seal) is required

EXPERIENCE:

∙At least five years’ experience working as a licensed journeyperson (Plumber)

∙Experience in a hospital environment is an asset

∙Experience in repairing/replacing mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment is required

SALARY: $31.271 - $31.655 - $32.036- $ 32.422

SHIFTS: Days, rotating on-call schedule. Subject to scheduling change as per Management Rights and Article G.01 of the CUPE Collective Agreement).
