Whether our clients are 1 or 100, we have products to ensure the independence, mobility, and safety of clients of all ages.

The Role:

The Power Wheelchair Technician is a unique role at Motion. Working out of our Toronto location, you will work exclusively with equipment that is part of the Central Equipment Pool for High Technology Wheelchairs (CEP). CEP provides high quality new and recycled power wheelchairs and power tilt/recline units to individuals in Ontario who have applied for funding through the Ontario government. Motion partners directly with the Ontario government to be the sole provide of CEP equipment.

This role is comprised of three components: computer work (programming equipment, auditing sales orders), physical labour (arranging, assembling, and dissembling equipment), and interpersonal communications (working with manufacturers, Sales Reps, other Technicians, and clients). Comprehensive training on all aspects of the role will be provided.

How you will spend your days:

  • Physically working on CEP chairs - removing all components to strip the chair down and rebuild it to work and function like a new chair.
  • Diagnose issues with the equipment and repair parts that are worn.
  • Manage returns of CEP equipment and determine what needs to be done to each item in order to recycle and refurbish it.
  • Audit orders made by sales consultants to ensure the sales order matches the order form so the equipment can meet the goals of the client.
  • Work with various vendor software programs to complete programming uploads to ensure chairs meet the required needs of the client.
  • Work with and maintain relationships with key manufacturer and vendor reps that support the products we supply to our clients.
  • Work closely with various internal departments and other locations across Ontario.

What you bring:

  • Computer skills - experience working in Microsoft Office Suite, comfortable navigating databases, and can learn new software quickly.
  • Hands-on ability - you know and understand various hand and power tools.
  • Some experience working in a role where you've gained hands-on experience building or repairing items (mechanic, technician, electrician, construction etc).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to stay organized.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience in the healthcare or personal mobility device industry would be considered an asset.
  • Additional must-have requirements:
    • Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50lbs
    • You have a clean criminal background check and are bondable.
