With outreach focused in one of our service areas in London, this role will demonstrate the ability to build trust easily and see the strengths and capacity in the surrounding community by engaging with youth experiencing barriers, hardship and adversity as both a mentor and advocate. We seek a creative, persistent individual with an understanding of positive youth development, outreach abilities, and knowledge of available community resources and supports. This role will demonstrate an awareness of the effect that oppression, barriers, poverty, and diversity have on youth, families, and the community and will support other team members to maximize outreach potential.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline from a college or university and/or significant experience in health promotion and community development
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in a community setting working with youth and families from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Demonstrated ability to reach and engage marginalized youth from priority neighbourhoods in activities that promote assets, competencies and resiliency
  • A proven approach to working collaboratively with youth, parents, and community partners/resources to ensure access to programs, services, and opportunities
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds with an inclusive and anti-oppressive lens

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Ability to initiate various approaches to problem solving with realistic goals
  • Awareness and understanding of the social determinants of health and experience working within a health promotion framework
  • Strong computer skills, including the use of MS Office products and electronic client records
  • French and other language skills are considered an asset in supporting the communities we serve
