About the Opportunity


Reporting to the manager, Shared Compensation (S-Comp) the Compensation Research Analyst supports the delivery of compensation programs and services, with an emphasis on carrying out a wide range of compensation-related research and data analysis. The role conducts preliminary job evaluation assessments and participates in salary surveys.

The incumbent monitors trends and developments in the industry, providing options on changes and enhancements to the compensation framework of the health authorities to ensure their relevance, competitiveness, and long-term sustainability. This role works with S-Comp team and its committees to ensure seamless delivery of compensation programs.

The position is responsible for the following:

  1. Researches the best practices in compensation. Provides input into development and streamlining of compensation policy and processes. Engages in a variety of compensation initiatives, carrying out project elements as assigned.
  2. Completes external salary surveys by matching internal jobs to survey benchmarks and providing corresponding compensation information. Designs and conducts ad-hoc salary surveys and research to gather comparator data for internal jobs.
  3. In collaboration with the manager, S-Comp, assesses the market competitiveness, equity and overall effectiveness of compensation programs. Analyzes market data and industry best practices to make recommendations for the evolution of foundational compensation elements.
  4. Supports S-Comp Governance Committee work by gathering information, conducting analysis, and preparing summaries/materials to support Committee decisions. Communicates Committee decisions and responds to related inquiries.
  5. Assists in implementing bargained compensation and job-related revisions to collective agreements.
  6. Assists the JE & Compensation Specialist and the Manager, S-Comp with job evaluation by preparing a preliminary assessment.
  7. Assists in the provision of training and education.

About You


We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Graduate of post-secondary degree/diploma in Human Resources, finance, business or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Enrolment in compensation-related coursework leading to a professional designation (e.g., CCP) would be an asset.
  • Minimum three years' experience in human resources or finance, including involvement in or supporting the compensation functional activities. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of the concepts, theories, principles and practices of compensation, with an emphasis on job evaluation, salary surveys, and job hierarchy structures.
  • Solid research and analysis skills with demonstrated ability to carry out cost analysis.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to articulate matters such as job design impacts, compensation policies and processes, and on compensation-related topics.
  • Strong excel skills to be able to compile, analyze and summarize data.
  • Strong analytical skills to be able to review and investigate job related data, information and changes.
  • Solid business writing skills with ability to develop and relay clear, concise and accurate information.
  • Familiarity with collective agreements, with an aptitude to understand and explain language pertaining to compensation.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with demonstrated ability to plan and execute assignments independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking, synthesize information, problem solve and utilize good judgment in decision making
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.

Hours

  • Permanent Full-time position; 75 hours biweekly
  • Location will be determined by the Successful Candidate
  • Travel to various sites will be required
  • This position will be eligible to participate in our work from home program
