About the Opportunity

Recovery and integration (R&I) are one of the services of the Mental Health & Addictions Program. Simpson Landing is located on site at the Nova Scotia Hospital. The delivery and services are guided by the principles of Recovery -oriented approach. Simpson landing offers opportunities for people living with mental health illness and experiencing significant functional challenges to participate and receive needed supports. Clients work on recovery focused goals to eventually help them to transition successfully back into community living. Programming about life skills, cooking, paying the bills, employment, education, treatment, wellness and health promotion, relapse prevention, family and peer support are some of the groups that are offered at Simpson Landing. Out goal is to meet the clients where they are on their road to recovery.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Graduated from a recognized community college occupational assistant program
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the uses and sources of commercially available assistive devices and equipment
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the properties and uses of various types of thermoplastic and splinting materials
  • Demonstrate basic computer skills
  • Demonstrate competence in the operation and maintenance of a variety of appliances and power equipment e.g.: sewing machine
  • Experience with populations with disabilities.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Long Assignment, Full-time / 100% FTE / 75 Hours Bi-weekly
  • May 2024 to July 2025, approximately 14 months

Compensation and Incentives

$22.84 - $26.85 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
