You'll Do:

  • Performs pulp physical testing
  • Prepares chemicals for mill control tests
  • Calibration and maintenance of testing equipment
  • Collection/analysis of chemicals and samples from various stages of production
  • Troubleshooting upset conditions and developing corrective actions for the impact on quality
  • Analyzes historical data for diagnoses of quality excursions
  • Supports the QA department in maintaining QMS certifications
  • Tabulates and reports analytical data in a clear and concise manner
  • Trains and evaluates operators on test methods as required
  • Maintains laboratory working areas in a clean and tidy condition
  • Follows departmental and mill safety rules
  • Assists and relieves other technicians as required
  • Assists Process Engineers on process projects
  • Provides coverage for Technologist as required
  • Provides coverage for mill shipping duties
  • Advises supervisor when unusual conditions are noted
  • Organization and execution of projects
  • Assist with WHMIS Program

You have:

  • Technical certificate or post-secondary science degree
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • High commitment to safety
  • Strong communication skills including technical or procedural writing
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Available to occasionally work evenings and weekends when required

Considered an asset:

  • Mill and/or heavy industry experience
  • Operational experience
  • Training in chemistry and science
  • Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Knowledge of the kraft pulp mill process
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO)

Compensation Package:

  • The salary range for this position may vary depending on experience, education, and location. The range is between $67,392-$77,500
  • Annual bonus opportunity
  • Outstanding benefits package including medical, dental, pension, life insurance, disability, accident insurance, vacation, and holidays
