Salary range

The salary range for this position is CAD $28.95 - $28.95 / hour

Position Highlights

We currently have exciting casual opportunities for Pharmacy Assistants across the Greater Vancouver area, Squamish/Whistler and the Sunshine Coast-Sechelt/Powell River areas.

Working as an integral part of our Pharmacy Team, in this position you will:

  • Assist with dispensing prescription orders
  • Count or measure and fill medication containers or unit dose packages; compound medications such as lotions, ointments and creams for inspection

As the successful applicant you have:

  • Graduated from a recognized Pharmacy Assistant course
  • One (1) year recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

Detailed Overview

Assists the Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians by measuring, packaging, compounding and distributing various drugs and medication; maintains related records, stock levels and performs various clerical duties, as assigned.
Responsibilities

  1. Counts or measures and fills medication containers or unit dose packages; compounds medications such as lotions, ointments and creams for inspection; distributes checked and/or verified medications to patient care units, as required or directed.
  2. Pre-packages oral, liquid, topical and mini-bag with integrated vial assembly medications into unit-of-use format and maintains related records.
  3. Delivers ward supplies and other stock requirements; maintains inventory and wardstock levels; fills wardstock and narcotic requisitions; distributes medications and maintains relevant inventory, wardstock and inventory records.
  4. Identifies beyond use dated drugs to be returned and/or destroyed by checking stock for expiry dates.
  5. Maintains department work areas by ensuring tidiness and order; stocks pharmaceuticals, labels, containers and glassware in accordance with established procedures and standards.
  6. Performs clerical duties such as typing, answering the phone, filing and maintaining records of drug and medication use and costs.
  7. Performs other related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Grade 12, graduation from a recognized Pharmacy Assistant course, plus one (1) year recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
