Detailed Overview

The Pharmacy Inventory Clerk performs a variety of inventory duties associated with the Pharmacy such as counting and replenishing stock, sorting and counting inventory, and rotating stock, checking for expiry dates. Performs cashier, secretarial and clerical support functions.


Responsibilities

  1. Counts and replenishes stock based on established minimum/maximum levels; makes adjustments to stock items as per established guidelines; makes recommendations for changes to inventory items and/or levels; places orders.
  2. Unloads and unpacks stock, equipment and material; matches to requisitions, identifies and records discrepancies; sorts and places articles in appropriate area.
  3. Fills requisitions by picking, assembling and delivering supplies/goods.
  4. Transports stock and materials to all areas of the facility/site.
  5. Rotates stock, checks for expiry date and returns expired products.
  6. Performs physical inventory counts.
  7. Keeps assigned area and goods/supplies in a clean and tidy condition..
  8. Completes related forms and maintains records.
  9. Prepares, receives and verifies cash register float.
  10. Verifies cash receipts against cash register printout and balances.
  11. Obtains information required from patients and completes a variety of standard forms such as medical insurance billing forms.
  12. Types, photocopies and distributes a variety of documents such as correspondence, forms, reports, and spreadsheets using software such as MS Word and MS Excel.
  13. Performs duties such as answering/directing incoming calls, taking messages, answers routine inquiries, and providing information of a general nature to clients.
  14. Assembles and updates documents such as department procedure manuals and brochures.
  15. Maintains departmental office supplies and resources.
  16. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Grade 12 and two years' recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to keyboard at 45 w.p.m.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal effectively with others.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
