We are currently seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team in a part-time contract role. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and make a significant impact on the lives of children through early intervention services. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments to identify children's strengths, challenges, and specific needs.
  • Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and the multidisciplinary team to develop individualized intervention plans and goals for each child.
  • Provide direct occupational therapy services to children, including individual and group sessions, in accordance with established plans and goals.
  • Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions and strategies to address sensory processing, fine motor skills, self-help skills, social skills, and play skills.
  • Adapt and modify activities, equipment, and the environment to optimize each child's participation and progress.
  • Monitor and document children's progress, maintain accurate records, and prepare progress reports for parents and team members.
  • Collaborate with teachers, educators, and other professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to intervention and promote carryover of skills across settings.
  • Provide guidance, support, and training to parents and caregivers to facilitate the integration of therapy strategies into daily routines and activities.
  • Stay updated on the latest research, trends, and best practices in pediatric occupational therapy.


Qualifications/Experience:

.

  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • The candidate must be a regulated member of the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with children, parents, caregivers, and team members.Proven experience working with children in an early intervention or pediatric setting.
  • Strong knowledge of child development, sensory integration, and evidence-based occupational therapy practices.
  • Familiarity with the local community and its resources.
  • Excellent assessment and analytical skills to identify individual needs and develop appropriate intervention plans.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to manage caseload and documentation requirements.
  • Valid first-aid certificate (required)
  • Valid Police check with vulnerable sector

Work Environment Requirements:

The position requires occasional walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/carrying work-related items weighing less than 40 pounds, such as books, papers, and presentation materials.


The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.


Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.


Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.


This position may require the employee to work some evenings and weekends. Work may include noisy and/or disruptive student behavior. Potential exposure to bodily fluids and frequent childhood illnesses may occur.
