Position Purpose:

Under the manager's directions the Production lead plans, organizes, prioritizes, directs, and controls the production flow. This position also ensures a safe work environment, and timely and accurate workflow and is responsible for process and productivity improvement.

Schedule: Monday-Friday from 7:30 am to 4 pm (subject to changes as per business needs)
Hourly wage: CAD 24.90$

Key Job Activities:

  • Leads process improvement, process development, and productivity improvement efforts in the production areas.
  • Identifies and implements corrective action when required
  • Intervenes in problem-solving when necessary
  • Manages reusable parts and supply usage reporting usage levels identifying methods to reduce supply costs.
  • Investigate new processes, methods, and materials that improve productivity and capability
  • Documents current and new manufacturing processes as required
  • Oversees the production managing daily priorities assigning personnel to appropriate process/operations to ensure performance to production schedules and efficient workflow.
  • Identifies production scheduling problems and solutions.
  • Makes job assignments to temporary and permanent employees.
  • Provides instruction and guidance on a daily basis to production department personnel having difficulties and/or procedural problems.
  • Assists in training and orienting new staff
  • Cross-trains employees to perform a variety of work responsibilities
  • Assesses and controls safety and environmental hazards.
  • Routinely checks for such items as area cleanliness, aisle obstructions, use of personal protective equipment, etc.
  • Understand how each step in the production process is performed and be able to train, coach and assist Production Associates
  • Perform management duties as delegated during periods of absence
  • Identifies purchasing required parts to be ordered to ensure seamless workflow and no production delays

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • 1+ years of leadership experience is a plus
  • A minimum of 3+ years of experience in the manufacturing field (woodworking preferred)
