Position: Fitness Development Coordinator

Terms: Permanent, Full time (Monday - Thursday 40 hours per week)

Reports to: Director of Athletics & Physical Health Education


Job Summary:

The primary role of the Fitness Development Coordinator is to supervise and manage the fitness centre while providing fitness programming for students and staff. This will include working with our Varsity teams, student-athletes, and coaches to enhance their physical conditioning, mobility and performance. Providing first aid services at all games, tournaments and major athletic events hosted at Mulgrave will also be a key requirement of the role.


Duties and Responsibilities

Including but not limited to the following:


  • Supervise the fitness centre throughout the day and after school (Mon-Thur)
  • Ensure that fitness centre equipment is working optimally and safely
  • Assist students and staff in creating fitness workouts and programs
  • Help design and coordinate strength and conditioning, warm-up, cool down and recovery sessions for Varsity teams and athletes (pre and post game)
  • Assist student-athletes with their Return to Sport programs after injury
  • Design and deliver the Strength and Conditioning LEAP (Tuesday-Thursday)
  • Design and deliver fitness centre safety and orientation sessions to students
  • Design and deliver a weekly group fitness session for staff members
  • Assist Middle School PHE teachers coordinate and deliver the PHE fitness unit
  • Provide first aid services at all tournaments, games and major athletic events
  • Provide taping and wrapping to student-athletes at games as needed
  • Act as an OFA 2 attendant throughout the school day (MERT) as needed
  • Provide fitness centre supervision at recess and lunch
  • Travel with Varsity teams to major tournaments (first aid and chaperone)


Required Qualifications

  • Canadian resident and legally entitled to work in Canada
  • NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or equivalent
  • Occupational First Aid Level 2 Certification (OFA 2) or willingness to obtain
  • Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology or related field
  • Knowledge and certifications in taping and wrapping
  • Class IV drivers license or willingness to obtain


Preferred Experiences and Qualities

  • Demonstrated experience working with high school students in a strength and conditioning context
  • Demonstrated experience working with high school and/or club teams, athletes and coaches, ideally in basketball, soccer, rugby and/or volleyball
  • Strong organisational, communication, administrative and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • The ability to work both independently and cooperatively as part of a team
  • The ability to communicate effectively with all members of the school
  • The ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with students, teachers, coaches, and other staff members

The base annual salary for this position is competitive and falls within the range of $50,000.00 - $65,000.00. The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, and relevant experience in accordance with BC labour laws and company policies.
