Windsor Regional Hospital is one of the largest hospitals in the Province of Ontario, serving a population of 400,000 people in Windsor and Essex County. It is the regional provider of advanced care in areas that include Complex Trauma, Renal Dialysis, Cardiac Care, Stroke and Neurosurgery, Intensive Care, Acute Mental Health, Family Birthing Centre, Neonatal Intensive Care, Paediatric Services, Regional Cancer services and a broad range of medical and surgical services required to support these specialized areas. Through a major initiative involving the two hospitals in Windsor, a realignment of programs and services was achieved on October 1, 2013, when Windsor Regional Hospital became responsible for the governance, management and operations of the Ouellette Campus (previously Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital along with continuing its responsibility for the Metropolitan Campus. The ultimate vision is to design and construct a new state-of-the-art acute hospital healthcare facility serving the needs of Windsor-Essex for generations to come. Providing Acute Care Services with 650 plus beds and an operating budget of half of a billion dollars, Windsor Regional Hospital is one of the largest community based non-academic hospitals in the Province of Ontario.

Provide and coordinate medical care for sick infants across the NICU, Labour and Delivery, and Maternal Newborn Units, collaborating with neonatologists and multidisciplinary teams. Communicate with families and care providers, contribute to NICU leadership, quality improvement, policy development, education, and research.

Provide safe, effective, patient-focused nursing care, including assessing and monitoring patients, identifying patient and family needs, developing care plans, delivering direct care, and evaluating outcomes. Contribute to professional development and quality improvement, apply current nursing theory and research, and promote a safe work environment.

Provide autonomous nursing care to individuals with less complex needs and predictable outcomes, following the College of Nurses of Ontario standards of practice. Consult and collaborate with registered nurses and other care providers when care needs exceed the role’s independent scope.

Apply current cardiac care theory and research, support the professional development of self and others, contribute to quality improvement, and promote a safe work environment.

Provide safe, effective, and ethical nursing care, including monitoring and documenting patient conditions, identifying care needs, developing and evaluating care and discharge plans, and delivering direct patient care. Support other healthcare team members, investigate and communicate patient care incidents, follow hospital safety standards, and maintain professional development.
