The Employment Support Worker will focus on helping clients move through the employment process (job search, job placement and job retention) using the guidelines set out by the Individual Placement Supports (IPS) model of service. The Employment Support Worker will create and build relationships with employers. They will work with the Vocational Services team and carry an individual case load with the goal of securing clients with competitive employment.
Status: Contract full-time until March 31st 2027, 37.5 hours per week. Note, this posting is for an active vacancy. Salary: $62,425.03-$73,441.21 annually. (Candidate qualifications will be considered when determining the starting salary) Location: This position is based out of our 601-7700 Hurontario St., Brampton office. Due to the nature of this program, this role is on-site and/or community based.
What You Will Do: Recruit clients and conduct assessments and referrals to determine job readiness and motivation for competitive employment Conduct vocational assessment of clients’ work history, interest, goals, life skills and support systems Assist clients to be ready for competitive employment using one-to-one and group sessions Ensure all clients have an Individualized Employment Action Plan Assist clients with job search, job placement and job retention Utilize tools such as aptitude assessments to assist clients in creating individual vocational plans Provide coaching for job readiness, job search strategies, and job retention skills Empower clients and support combating stigma through self-advocacy Manage a caseload including regular re-assessments and caseload reviews Support clients in preparing resumes and cover letters, interview preparation and work site interview support Maintain up-to-date knowledge base of employment and labour market trends Collaborate with employers who may wish to participate in the Wage Subsidy Program Advocate on client’s behalf and secure job interviews or paid short term job placements with employers to secure competitive employment opportunities Provide onsite support to clients as required by the employer and the client Develop a Job Retention Plan with each client to ensure a plan is in place to eliminate workplace concerns/issues

What You Need to Join Our Team: Post-secondary degree or diploma in relevant discipline, training and/or experience in Vocational Rehabilitation. Registration with a Professional College is an asset. Minimum 2 years’ experience in Vocational/Employment initiatives with individuals experiencing complex barriers to employment. Understanding of Supported Employment and Individual Placement Supports (IPS) model. Understanding and experience working with people with mental health issues. Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and ability to effectively work with diverse populations. Knowledge and/or experience working with the following systems is an asset: ODSP Ontario Works CPP Disability insurance providers Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to approach, listen, build trust, and communicate across diverse cultures and intersectionality. Willingness to continually improve understanding around cultural competence. Openness to operate from an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, 2SLGBTQ+ affirming and intersectional framework. Willingness to learn and apply practical understanding of different elements of diversity, such as gender identity/expression, race/cultural background, religion, sexual orientation, disability, immigration and precarious status, family status, etc. Fluency in a second language, including ASL (American Sign Language) is considered an asset. Valid Canadian driver’s license and access to an insured automobile in good repair A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Check) report.
