Job Description: The Social Worker uses professional skills to assist and provide interventions aimed at assisting clients and families cope with health related issues. Under the direction of the Director of Acute Care - Southwest the incumbent will support Program Managers to ensuring the goals and needs of the client are met in keeping with the mission, vision and values of the SHA. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement"

- Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)

Knowledge and Abilities
- Ability to prioritize work
- Knowledge of community resources including treatment programs & support agencies
- Ability to identify, implement and evaluate areas of client difficulty.
- Ability to formulate evidence based intervention.
- Knowledge of human growth, development and human behavior.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Knowledge in medical terminology
- Knowledge of psychopathology and the family life cycle and systems theory.
- The ability to conduct needs assessments & develop & deliver presentations.
- Ability to enter and retrieve data in computer database systems
- Ability to work in a cross cultural setting
- Ability to recognize and maintain confidential information
- Ability to be self motivated
- Ability to respond under pressure.
- Ability to network and collaborate with internal and external resources/agencies
