Headquartered in Ottawa and with locations in Cornwall and Pembroke, Carefor is Eastern Ontario's largest charitable home and community support services organization, dedicated to enriching lives by providing holistic care and support that gives people choice in how they live. Through a broad continuum of services, Carefor supports seniors, adults living with disabilities, caregivers, and individuals with complex health needs across Eastern Ontario, helping people maintain independence, dignity, and connection to their communities. A highly complex and dynamic organization, Carefor provides services to 20,000 clients annually, has a staff of approximately 1200, and an annual budget around $75 million.
The Opportunity Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the President & Chief Executive Officer will lead Carefor through its next chapter of growth, innovation, and community impact. The successful candidate will: Establish a compelling vision for the future of the organization and lead the development of Carefor's next strategic plan in partnership with the Board. Ensure the delivery of high-quality, client-centred services while advancing operational excellence. Drive organizational growth through innovation, partnerships, and new opportunities. Foster a high-performing, engaged, and inclusive culture across the organization. Ensure strong financial stewardship and long-term sustainability. Build relationships with governments, healthcare partners, funders, community organizations, and other key stakeholders. Serve as Carefor's ambassador and advocate for home and community care throughout Eastern Ontario.
The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will bring a combination of strategic leadership, operational excellence, and a passion for community impact. Key qualifications include: Experience leading a large, complex organization through growth, change, and transformation. Strong strategic, operational, and financial leadership capabilities. A demonstrated ability to drive organizational performance while fostering a positive culture. Experience working effectively with Boards and diverse stakeholder groups. Exceptional relationship-building, communication, and influencing skills. Sound judgment, integrity, and a visible, people-centred leadership style. An authentic passion for community impact and improving the lives of those Carefor serves. The ability to communicate in both official languages (English and French) would be considered an asset.
Location The successful candidate must be based within Carefor's service region, including Ottawa, Pembroke, Cornwall, or the surrounding area. Regular travel throughout Eastern Ontario and a significant in-person presence in Ottawa are essential requirements of the role.
