Position Summary The Director is responsible for the Kidney and Urinary Clinical Program (inpatient outpatient transplant acute care dialysis at other city hospitals satellite programs all nephrology clinics and home modality dialysis). The Director has broad responsibility for regional planning and service delivery for Hamilton and Brantford region. The Director is accountable 24/7 for the leadership and direction of the programs; and setting the strategic and operational vision of these programs including volumes fiscal resources and capital planning. In partnership with the medical co-leads and in alignment with the SJHH mission vision and corporate strategic directions the Director implements the vision to advance the portfolio as a prominent leader in clinical education service and research. The Director also determines and leads all aspects of the patient care delivery system; and establishes partnerships and collaborates with community providers provincial agencies funders (OH MOHLTC ORN etc) and other external key stakeholders. Also responsible for satellite dialysis at King campus Six Nations Charlton campus and Brantford General Hospital. What We Are Looking For -Master’s level preparation in a related health discipline or health sciences or administration -5 to 7 years previous experience -Demonstrated competence in health management -Experience in leading a diverse group of professional staff with both common and competing needs -Proven ability to communicate highly complex information both orally and in writing to a range of audiences including the general public -Advanced knowledge of management principles -Demonstrates excellence in interpersonal communication coaching mentoring and team building skills that facilitate positive interactions among all members of the interdisciplinary health care teams -Demonstrates a clear understanding of the application of the appropriate legislation and the discipline specific standards of practice -Demonstrates superior understanding of systems system analysis techniques value analysis process and continuous improvement principles and tools -Possesses highly developed analytical problem solving critical thinking skills -Demonstrates a strong patient and customer focused philosophy in all interactions -Possesses the ability to introduce and effectively facilitate change -Analyzes research and incorporates evidence-based practice to inform clinical practice -Demonstrates effective strategies to guide and handle staff experiencing performance and/or attendance problems -Facilitates an environment that expects team members to resolve issues in a respectful non-confrontational manner -Enhanced knowledge and expertise in coaching facilitation listening group and team skills -Progressive management experience in an academic hospital setting strong interpersonal communication and clinical problem-solving skills What Will Grab Our Attention -Leadership Excellence: Mentors and coaches managers staff, with demonstrated ability to guide and motivate multidisciplinary teams, fostering trust, accountability, and high performance. •Strategic and Analytical Insight: Skilled in evaluating complex clinical and operational issues, identifying priorities, and making sound, evidence-informed decisions. •Financial Stewardship: Proven experience overseeing budgets, monitoring performance indicators, and ensuring responsible allocation of resources to support organizational goals. Negotiates contracts (often multi-million dollar) including LHIN wide contracts as required. •Exceptional Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the capacity to convey clinical, policy, and operational matters clearly and with professionalism. •Collaborative Leadership: Ability to build effective partnerships and work seamlessly with internal teams, external stakeholders, and cross-sector colleagues at local and national levels. •Advanced Problem-Solving: Demonstrated capability to address conflicts, concerns, and operational challenges with fairness, consistency, and sound judgment. •Fosters effective employee and labour relations through knowledgeable interpretation and implementation of hospital policies and collective agreements •Ensures effective strategies in managing staff retention and development human rights and employment equity •Excellence in Patient Care Delivery: Directs practices and processes to ensure excellence in patient care delivery education and research in accordance with professional standards MOHLTC LHIN Accreditation Canada Research Ethics Standards College and University training standards and all other applicable regulations and legislation •Establishes key performance indicators and monitors against goals and outcomes making course corrections as required. Synthesize overall program performance and ensure areas of concern are investigated and plans developed to improve where required. Ensures all mandatory reports are produced to meet deadlines. This includes reports to VP President Board LHIN ORN and MOHLTC •Interfaces with all quality internal and external stakeholders this includes Public Health LHIN ORN MOHLTC and media •Develops pro-active programs for risk management at all levels including patients staff and the organization •Oversees all complaints concerns and sentinel events ensuring prompt and thorough response. This includes analysis of program and corporate trends and leading corporate initiatives for quality improvement when required •Corporate representative for SJHH at community HNHB LHIN and provincial and national meetings and task groups •Champions and supports the creation of new knowledge and/or its translation into improved health or service delivery for patients Hours of Work Primarily business hours with flexibility to meet the demands of the work. Participates as corporate Director On-Call.
