The Opportunity Job classification: SA005 - Educational Counsellor II Salary range: $95,200 - $110,500. Placement within the range is typically based upon a review of skills, experience, and internal equity. Hours per week: 36.25 Paid leave: 43 days vacation per year Deadline to apply: end of day July 12, 2026 Reporting to the Manager, Student Development and Counselling, the Educational Counsellor II is a senior member of the SAIT Academic Faculty Association. This role provides personal and career counselling, delivers psychoeducational workshops and mental health training, and participates in departmental and professional development activities. This position provides leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of three key Student Development and Counselling (SDC) initiatives: A new service delivery model for the Taylor Family Campus Centre (TFCC), featuring single-session counselling within a community-based student wellness hub. The pilot Graduate Counselling Practicum Supervision Program. Recovery-focused supports offered through the Zen Den and Natoysopoyiis. Working primarily on SAIT’s main campus, with responsibilities that may extend to satellite campuses and occasional after-hours support, this role plays a critical part in shaping counselling services across SAIT. The Educational Counsellor II is responsible for developing, supervising, and training SDC counsellors and practicum students in single-session therapy, as well as overseeing the counselling supports delivered through TFCC. Success in this role requires advanced clinical expertise, strong program development and evaluation skills, and significant experience in counselling supervision. \n

How you'll contribute Primary responsibility is developing, leading and evaluating clinical supports offered at TFCC through overseeing a new model of counseling service delivery in the new TFCC Wellness Hub, single session therapy. Lead clinical supports for satellite campuses. While the major focus of this position is on leading developing clinical supports for TFCC as well as training other counsellors/practicum students in offering single session therapy, a portion of time will be given to offering SDC supports such as personal and crisis counselling to SAIT students. Implementing and evaluating a Pilot Graduate Counselling Practicum student program. Leading student recovery-based programming for the TFCC Student Wellness Office, Interfaith, Natoysopoyiis and satellite campuses. Serves as the alternate to the SDC Manager in overseeing clinical counseling operations. Designs and delivers psycho-educational workshops, presentations, wellness programming and outreach programs that enhance student success in addition to developing wellness tools. Partner with local, provincial and national wellness networks to increase the capacity of the TFCC Student Wellness Office such Recovery on Campus (ROC), Healthy Campus Alberta, Centre for Suicide Prevention, etc.. Liaise with faculties, departments and other student services regarding the provision of programs, workshops and services that enhance student success in addition to offering critical incident support affecting student groups.

What you bring Master’s degree in Psychology. Minimum 10 years of post-secondary counselling experience. Minimum 1–2 years of counselling supervision or leadership experience. Current registration as a Psychologist in Alberta, with professional liability insurance in good standing. Registered Psychologist in Alberta for a minimum of five years, with eligibility to supervise Provisional Psychologists. Strong knowledge of clinical service delivery models, with demonstrated experience developing and implementing innovative counselling approaches, such as single-session therapy. Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a community-based, multidisciplinary environment, such as the Taylor Family Campus Centre (TFCC) Student Wellness Office. Experience in program development, supervision, and evaluation is considered an asset.
