About the Job

The Program Facilitator will serve as a key member of the interdisciplinary clinical team for the Youth Recovery House.  He, she, or they will play a leadership role in developing and facilitating the delivery of psycho-educational workshops and life skills training and will create the conditions to allow the young people in care opportunity to experience continued academic (or employment) progress.  The incumbent will serve as case manager/ key worker for a number of the participants and will provide a (physically and culturally) safe environment for youth to gain insight and understanding of their substance use, and to learn and practice skills instrumental to their recovery and their ability to cope and thrive in the world. 

As the ‘learning lead’ within the Youth Recovery House, the incumbent will support the development and implementation of programs, policies, and procedures consistent with best practice.  The Program Facilitator will contribute to the management of the home, and ensure it remains welcoming and safe and contributes intentionally to the well-being of all who reside there. 

The Program Facilitator will balance their teaching interventions with clinical, recreational, and relationship-based practice set within a trauma-informed and holistic (bio-psycho-social-spiritual-cultural) framework of care. The position requires a flexible schedule that will include weekends and evenings.

Position: Full-time, 35 hours per week. 

Compensation: $33.12 - $38.62 per hour plus applicable shift premiums

  • Evening shift premium – additional $3.50 per hour between 1900hr-0700hr
  • Weekend shift premium – additional $2.50 per hour between 2400hr (midnight) Friday – 2400hr (midnight) Sunday
  • Shift premiums compound- additional $6.00 per hour between 1900hr-0700hr from 2400hr (midnight) Friday – 2400hr (midnight) Sunday
  • Facility-Based Role Premium – additional $1.00 per hour for Facility-Based Roles

Indirect Compensation

  • Extended Health and Dental benefits after the 3-month probationary period
  • 9.31% Pension matching after the 3 month probationary period
  • 3 weeks vacation pay which increases with length of service.

Qualifications

Education and experience

  • Minimum Undergraduate Degree in Social Work, Psychology or Related Field.
  • 3-5 years’ experience working with youth, preferably in a live-in environment, and their families.
  • Training and experience providing evidence-based responses/ therapeutic interventions to individuals experiencing alcohol use disorder, substance use disorder or concurrent disorder.
  • Demonstrated group facilitation and counselling skills,
  • Experience creating and working within a culturally inclusive environment.

Job skills and abilities

  • Excellent communication skills, orally and in writing
  • Ability to build strong, collaborative working relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated crisis management, decision-making, conflict resolution, time management, and problem-solving skills.

Other Requirements

  • Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check

  • Valid BC driver’s license and use of a reliable vehicle
