Position Summary:

The PT/OT Assistant works under the supervision and direction of the Manager, Professional Practice. The PT/OT Assistant is responsible for implementing the components of the designated treatment programs, and to facilitate patients in reaching optimal potential function. The PT/OT Assistant provides input to Therapist’s assessment and plan of care for the patient where appropriate, and clarifies the plan of care with the Therapist. The PT/OT Assistant provides high quality, safe, effective and evidence-based care in partnership with patient and families, in accordance with the professional practice standards and GGH’s mission, vision, values and policies.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Abilities:

  • College Certified Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Assistant
  • 6 months recent Physio/OT Assistant experience
  • Current BCLS
  • Experience in acute care setting an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a self-directed manner as well as collaboratively within a team in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service when interacting with patients, families, colleagues and physicians
