Your Opportunity:
Assisted Living Alberta (ALA) is seeking an accomplished senior executive to serve as Senior Provincial Director, Provincial Quality, Client Experience and Accreditation. Reporting to the Executive Lead, Planning, Performance and Quality, this role will shape a province-wide approach to quality, safety, accountability, and client experience across Alberta's continuing care system. The Senior Provincial Director will establish and advance an integrated framework for quality assurance, accreditation, complaints management, client experience, and continuous improvement. Through independent oversight, transparent monitoring, and evidence-informed decision-making, the role will look to strengthen public confidence and support safe, high-quality, person-centred care. Working with government partners, operators, accreditation bodies, clients, families, and healthcare leaders, the successful candidate will influence provincial strategy, identify and mitigate quality risks, and translate feedback, audit findings, and accreditation results into meaningful system improvement. Description:
The Senior Provincial Director, Provincial Quality, Client Experience and Accreditation provides executive leadership for ALA's provincial quality assurance, accreditation, client experience, complaints management, and continuous improvement functions. The role establishes governance, standards, audit and monitoring processes, accreditation readiness strategies, and client feedback mechanisms that support safe, high-quality, person-centred care and services. Operating independently from clinical service delivery, the position strengthens accountability, transparency, and consistency across ALA and contracted service providers. The Senior Provincial Director identifies emerging and systemic quality risks, monitors compliance with legislative and accreditation requirements, and ensures client and family concerns are received, investigated, resolved, and escalated through a fair, timely, and centralized process, including the Patient Concerns Officer function. The role leads a provincial team, including four direct and 61 indirect reports, and collaborates with executive, clinical, operational, financial, planning, government, and external partners. Findings from complaints, audits, accreditation reviews, and client feedback are translated into policy, service standards, education, performance reporting, and system-level improvement.

Required Qualifications:
A master's degree in health administration, quality management, public policy, or a related field. A minimum of 7 years of progressive leadership experience in quality assurance, accreditation, client experience, or complaints management in healthcare. Demonstrated experience in establishing and leading independent quality oversight functions separate from delivery operations. Expertise in accreditation processes, quality improvement frameworks, and client experience methodologies. Proven experience in complaints management, including centralized intake, investigation, and resolution at a system level.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience establishing and leading quality oversight functions that operate independently from service delivery is required. The successful candidate brings advanced knowledge of accreditation processes, quality assurance and improvement frameworks, audit and monitoring practices, and client experience methodologies. Proven experience leading centralized complaints management, including intake, triage, investigation, resolution, escalation, trend analysis, and organizational learning, is required. The successful candidate demonstrates strong executive judgement, systems thinking, and the ability to identify and mitigate quality risks, influence senior stakeholders, and translate evidence, feedback, and findings into policy, standards, performance reporting, and sustainable improvement. Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and building effective relationships with government, operators, accreditation bodies, clients, families, and healthcare partners is also required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in continuing care, long-term care, or home care quality oversight. Familiarity with Accreditation Canada standards and provincial quality frameworks.
