Job Description: The Clinical Perfusionist sets up, operates and maintains the heart lung machine and related equipment such as the intra-aortic balloon pump, autotransfusion devices, ecmo and vads . The incumbent is responsible for routinely checking all hardware and maintains perfusion related equipment and disposables stock on an ongoing basis, carries out blood gas, heparin concentration, activated clotting time and thrombelastograph analysis as well as quality control and calibration of those analyzers. The incumbent also acquaints other health care professionals with the perfusionists handling and use of equipment. They initiate, participate in and complete research projects in perfusion related areas. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement"

Education
- Cardiovascular Perfusion advanced certificate
Memberships
- A member in good standing of the Canadian Society of Clinical Perfusion (CSCP)
Other Education and Training
- Cardiovascular Perfusion diploma is acceptable
- Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)
