Reporting to the Manager, Mental Health Services, the Dual Diagnosis – Psychological Associate provides specialized psychological assessment, diagnostic clarification, treatment planning, and consultation for individuals with a developmental disability and mental illness.

This position integrates advanced psychological assessment and diagnostic expertise with collaborative, system based clinical practice. The role supports individuals with complex cognitive, adaptive, emotional, behavioural, and psychiatric needs and works closely with families, caregivers, Developmental Services (DS), community mental health partners, inpatient services, and other ministry funded systems. Services are delivered primarily in outpatient settings, with inpatient consultation as required.

The Psychological Associate functions independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team, supporting recovery oriented, trauma informed, person centred, and developmentally appropriate care.

Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:

  • Master’s degree in Psychology
  • Registered member in good standing, or eligible for registration, with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (Psychological Associate)
  • Minimum five (5) years’ recent clinical experience working with older adolescents and adults (16+) with developmental disabilities and co occurring serious mental illness
  • Demonstrated experience administering and interpreting psychological, cognitive, and adaptive functioning assessments
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and DSM 5 TR, and ethical standards of psychological practice
  • Demonstrated understanding of Ontario’s Developmental Services system and inter ministerial service navigation
  • Ability to work independently while effectively utilizing interdisciplinary collaboration and clinical supervision
  • Ability to provide practicum supervision and clinical education
  • Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence and access to reliable transportation; travel within the catchment area may be required
  • Able to work all shifts, 24/7, including weekends, and ability for multi-site coverage if required
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record

Preferred:

  • Experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, FASD, Down Syndrome, and genetic or neurodevelopmental conditions (e.g., 22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome)
  • Experience supporting clients through transitions across the lifespan and between service systems
