About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join McKesson's Technology Pharmaceutical Solutions and Services (PSaS) DI Data Architecture and Engineering organization. This pivotal role involves designing, developing, and deploying advanced data solutions that support our strategic initiatives in supply chain modernization and analytics. The successful candidate will work in a collaborative environment, partnering with cross-functional teams including data scientists, BI developers, data architects, and delivery leaders to create scalable, governed, and high-quality data products.

This individual will play a crucial role in enabling rapid experimentation with artificial intelligence and machine learning, operationalizing successful use cases, and monetizing insights. The role offers an exciting opportunity to influence data architecture, promote best practices, and drive innovation across the organization, ultimately contributing to improved decision-making and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational background with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. They should have at least 7 years of extensive experience in data engineering, with a proven track record of building robust data solutions and products. Additionally, a minimum of 3 years of experience in data architecture is essential, demonstrating the ability to create enterprise-wide data solutions that are scalable and aligned with business needs.

Expertise in cloud-based data warehousing and processing tools such as Azure, Databricks, and Snowflake is required. Candidates should have hands-on experience with data modeling, metadata management, data lineage, and domain-driven design. Relevant certifications in cloud platforms, data management, or related areas will be considered a strong advantage.

Responsibilities

Design and deploy cloud-native data applications and pipelines using Azure and Databricks, enabling advanced analytics and digital capabilities across pharmaceutical business domains. Manage offshore and nearshore teams to deliver validated, governed, and scalable data products, promoting robust metadata management, data lineage, and domain-driven design principles. Collaborate with data and platform architecture teams to ensure data product designs align with enterprise architecture standards and governance frameworks. Define and enforce best practices for data quality, scalability, and performance, providing technical leadership and mentorship to global engineering teams. Establish standardized dimensional models, ontologies, and semantic structures to ensure interoperability and consistency across data domains. Apply AI-enabled SDLC practices and automation to enhance system performance, reduce technical debt, and accelerate time-to-market for data solutions. Drive seamless data integration across platforms, champion modernization through Azure-native technologies, and optimize workflows for performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
