Director Oncology Program Excellence & Strategy
About the role
Our client, a leading provider of patient support programs, is looking for a Director, Oncology Program Excellence & Strategy to advance its position as a preferred partner within the oncology community for patient support programs (PSPs).
This role leads the development and execution of oncology initiatives to drive program innovation and contribute to sustained company growth and profitability. They will also provide strategic guidance to program teams to enable the delivery of high-quality, scalable solutions that meet the needs of patients, prescribers, and pharmaceutical partners.
This position requires deep expertise in oncology patient care, a comprehensive understanding of the Canadian oncology landscape, and the ability to leverage an established network within the oncology community. The ideal candidate brings an entrepreneurial, builder mindset, with a strong capacity to collaborate and develop long-lasting, strategic partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
As the Director, Oncology Program Excellence & Strategy, you will: • Build and enhance the organization’s capabilities in delivering high-quality, patient-centered oncology programs. • Act as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for oncology within the organization, sharing therapeutic knowledge and expertise through training and feedback mechanisms to program team members. • Support the business development process for oncology programs, including proposal development, client presentations, and the successful launch of new programs. • Develop a strategic plan for identifying, mapping, and effectively gaining insights from diverse stakeholders across the oncology ecosystem. • Stay abreast of the national oncology healthcare landscape, including treatment access, affordability, legislative changes, and the latest advancements in oncology research. • Participate in external conferences and forums to gather insights on trends and developments in program offerings and technology.
Required Qualifications & Skills • 7+ years of progressive experience in the oncology pharmaceutical industry, patient support programs, or within the broader oncology care landscape. • Experience leading initiatives, with a proven ability to develop and define strategy, and conceptualize and implement approaches. • Proven experience in stakeholder engagement, including oncologists, oncology pharmacists, oncology nurses, patient associations, and industry partners. • Extensive knowledge of the Canadian healthcare system and a strong understanding of the oncology landscape, including patient/caregiver needs, reimbursement processes across provinces and territories, and product pipelines. • Exceptional leadership, communication (written, verbal, presentation), and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build rapport, influence stakeholders, and inspire cross-functional teams. • Strong strategic thinking combined with meticulous execution capabilities. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced, complex, and highly matrixed environment. • Self-motivated, resilient, with a positive attitude and creativity in generating solutions. • University degree or equivalent industry-related experience. • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
