We are seeking an experienced Spiritual Care Provider to join the North Bay Regional Health Centre team. In this role, you will serve as a vital member of the interprofessional healthcare team, enhancing the quality of life for patients, families, caregivers and the hospital community through psycho-spiritual therapeutic support.

You will provide compassionate, person-centered, and family-focused care, addressing the spiritual, emotional, and religious needs of individuals across diverse belief systems, cultural identities, and worldviews. Your practice will draw on evidence-informed interventions and approaches to support individuals through their unique experiences and journeys.

QUALIFICATIONS

Certification/Experience/Knowledge:

  • Completion of a master’s degree in theology, spiritual care, or equivalent required
  • Membership with the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC/ACSS) required
  • Certification as a Spiritual Care Practitioner with CASC (or currently completing certification) preferred
  • Knowledge of various models of spiritual care and their appropriate use in a variety of practice contexts required
  • Multicultural and multi-faith sensitivity and awareness of various faith practices and rituals
  • Understanding of Indigenous Services (Mînowacihewin – Regional Service for Indigenous People) with the ability to engage appropriately and in alignment with established program roles
  • Registration, eligibility, or active application with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) as a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) an asset
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a related spiritual care role, preferably in a healthcare or institutional setting
  • Experience supporting patients, families, and staff through grief, trauma, palliative and end-of-life care, and life-altering diagnoses

Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent communication (verbal/written), interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills are essential
  • Excellent counselling/clinical skills and compliance with confidentiality requirements
  • Excellent demonstrated assessment, critical thinking and intervention skills required
  • Superior knowledge of issues, principles and practices related to spiritual and religious care
  • Good working knowledge of professional and clinical ethical principles
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing education required
  • Excellent demonstrated knowledge of community spiritual and religious resources required
  • Self-directed individual who works effectively with minimal supervision and has demonstrated flexibility collaborating with an interdisciplinary team required
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously to ensure completion.
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions and unexpected situations/emergencies
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment, and to effectively reorganize workload collaboratively in a team environment
  • Good attendance and work record required
  • Must demonstrate commitment to ensure your safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors
  • Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization
  • Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required.
