  Description:The Department of Medicine, Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, and the Division of Cardiology at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Center are inviting applications for the position of Cardiac Intensive Care Specialist. This full-time appointment will be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto with a position description as a Clinician Teacher or Clinician Quality Improvement at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. It is expected that the position will be 50-75% clinical and 25-50% related to teaching, quality improvement initiatives, and/or administrative duties.  Expected start date is January 1, 2027, or another mutually agreeable date thereafter.  Candidates with broad clinical, teaching and quality improvement experience will be considered. Teaching experience will be measured by the presence of formal training in education, a strong track record of interests and excellence in resident and fellow education, formal training in teaching methodology, awards, leadership as a clinical educator and other relevant experience. Quality improvement experience will be measured by the presence of formal training in quality improvement, and a track record of successful initiatives, leadership, awards and/or publications. The successful candidate must hold an MD degree; have or be eligible for certification in Cardiology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and have or be eligible for licensure to practice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Completion of formal training in Cardiac Critical Care is mandatory.  The successful applicant will join the Division of Cardiology which is one of the largest divisions within the Department of Medicine with 22 full-time and 27 part-time and community cardiologists. As a major provider of tertiary and quaternary cardiac services and leader in less invasive structural heart interventions, the Division of Cardiology serves as a regional cardiac referral centre for many complex cardiac procedures.   Estimated remuneration will be $250,000-$300,000, commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be eligible for membership in the Sunnybrook Department of Medicine Association through which clinical billings and benefits will be administered.
