About the role
Home Support Worker (Permanent Night Shift) Provides in-home support and emergency response services to clients in the home support and assisted living environment Responsibilities: Applies client-centred approach and respects client's wishes, rights, dignity, autonomy and needs when providing in-home support services Provides high quality support services in accordance with care plan, organization's mission and legislated and regulatory standards (e.g. personal care, homemaking, meal services, social activities, escorting, shopping, etc.) Responds promptly to clients' emergencies and takes appropriate actions (e.g. medical, non-motion sensor) Provides accurately and timely reports of client's condition verbally. Document as appropriate. Maintains complete and up-to-date client's progress report and accurate statistics of service Works closely with caregiver to provide optimal care for clients and provides emotional support and relief to caregiver Assists in daily and special social activities Assists in maintaining clients' information database Assists in mass program/activities such as fire drills and preventive maintenance programs, as required Complies with risk management policy for health and safety and infection control Keeps up-to-date with developments and best practices in the field Other duties as assigned Qualifications: Graduate of an approved and recognized Personal Support Worker course in Ontario, or equivalent Current CPR & First Aid Certificate Registration with Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) preferred. Client-centred care focus with strong customer service and interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability to take initiative, problem-solve and time manage Ability to work independently as well as be an active, positive team player Computer literacy (MS Office). Basic knowledge of Alayacare, Workday an asset. Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Screen result Ability to communicate in English and Chinese Physical Demands/Working Conditions: Considerable standing, walking, lifting and bending. Exposure to all client care elements through regular client contact. Ability to work permanent night shift, including weekends and short shifts.
