This employment opportunity is restricted to residents of Iqaluit only.

Reporting to the Nurse Manager Iqaluit Home and Community Care, the Home Care Nurse provides nursing and support services to the elderly, chronically ill and disabled patients throughout the life cycle. The incumbent promotes optimal level of functioning in activities of daily living.

Key Responsibilities Of The Successful Candidate Will Also Include

Developing and modifying a client care plan based on the assessed needs of the individual and the prescribed medical regimes; Ensuring implementation if the client care plan; and Developing rapport with the client, caregiver and family while ensuring privacy and confidentiality.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are obtained through a Bachelor of Nursing with two years of related experience. Valid driver’s license is required. Candidates that have graduated from the Nunavut Arctic College nursing program within the previous six months and have been accepted into the Graduate Nursing Residency Program will be considered for positions that have been identified as part of the program. Candidates must be eligible to register prior to start date with the College of Nurses of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut (CNNN) with annual re-certification.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. The ability to communicate in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
