About the role
Who we are: Samaritan Place, an Emmanuel Health organization, provides long-term care to over 100 residents. In the tradition of Catholic social justice teaching and service, we respond to the unmet needs of the vulnerable and the communities we serve through compassionate innovative service and partnerships. What youll do: You are responsible for managing all aspects of recreation services to enhance resident quality of life through planning, organization, implementation, assessment, and evaluation of the physical, spiritual, social and emotional program needs of residents. In addition, you are responsible for the management and coordination of volunteer services to enhance quality of programming at Samaritan Place, while providing a valuable link to the community. You promote resident directed care, and supports quality of life for residents. As a key leader, you participate in the overall management of the facility. In collaboration with department leads you develop, implement, and monitor injury prevention and safety programs. In this role, you will serve as the employer Co-Chair on the Occupational Health Committee and support workplace health and safety at a site level. Who you are: You have excellent time management and a skilled communicator with experience and education in therapeutic recreation. You believe in the philosophy of resident directed care.Qualifications Bachelor degree in Therapeutic Recreation or an equivalent combination of experience and education. Certificate or eligibility for certification in Therapeutic Recreation is considered an asset.Experience Experience leading therapeutic recreation in a health care setting. Experience participating as a member on the Occupational Health Committee is considered an asset.
