We are seeking a Casual Registered Practical Nurse to join our team and provide exceptional care to our residents in a warm and welcoming retirement community. About Nithview Community: Nithview Community is a seniors' community designed to provide several types of accommodation and services. Residents are able to choose the type of accommodation that is most appropriate for their care needs and continue to live within the community of care as their needs change. Emphasis is placed on assisting residents to live life to the fullest in this dynamic residential setting.
Position Summary As a Casual Registered Practical Nurse, you will provide nursing care that promotes the health, safety, dignity, and independence of our residents. Working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team, you will help ensure residents receive high-quality, resident-centred care while supporting a positive and respectful living environment. Responsibilities Provide nursing care in accordance with the standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario and applicable legislation. Assess residents' health status and monitor for changes in condition. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed. Respond promptly to resident needs, emergencies, and medical concerns. Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation. Collaborate with physicians, families, and the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans. Supervise and provide direction to Personal Support Workers as appropriate. Promote resident independence, dignity, comfort, and quality of life. Adhere to infection prevention and control practices, occupational health and safety standards, and organizational policies and procedures. Qualifications Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario. Current CPR and First Aid certification. Previous experience in retirement living, long-term care, or geriatric nursing is considered an asset. Strong assessment, critical thinking, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Flexible availability to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Sound knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and standards of care applicable to retirement living. Knowledge of applicable legislation, including the Retirement Homes Act, occupational health and safety requirements, and infection prevention and control practices. Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Ability to recognize changes in residents' health status and respond appropriately. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with residents, families, physicians, and team members. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to provide guidance and support to Personal Support Workers. Proficient computer skills, including experience with electronic health records and documentation systems. Commitment to providing compassionate, resident-centred care that promotes dignity, respect, independence, and quality of life. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professionalism and sound judgment in all interactions. Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, based on operational needs.
