About the role
Bandology is a proud Canadian non-profit dedicated to supporting more music for more kids via education, collaboration and community. We are currently seeking applications for new Board members to work collaboratively with Bandology’s Board of Directors to further their mission of more music for more kids in our community.
Please be advised that if applying to join the board, you must be located in Halton, Kitchener-Waterloo, Guelph or the surrounding area, in order to be able to attend in-person meetings and participate in Bandology programming.
We are especially looking for people with experience serving on charitable boards.
Board Responsibilities: The time commitment is approximately 30 hours per year with five scheduled meetings taking place about every two months, as well as other responsibilities that may arise related to executive roles or opportunities in the community. Provide advice, strategic direction and oversight to the Bandology team based on their specific skill sets and attributes Serve as advocates for Bandology and promote its mission, programs and services within their networks and communities Attend bimonthly board meetings (weekday evenings) and other occasional meetings that may arise Read and review agendas, minutes, policies and various other materials as needed Contribute expertise to further Bandology’s goals Liaise with board members, the Executive Director, staff and community members as needed Attend Bandology’s events and programs including recognition events, camps and workshops when able Participate in charitable bingo throughout the year (held monthly for two hours on a Saturday afternoon) Participate in second interviews for summer staff when able Attend networking events in their communities Executive positions are available, including chair, vice-chair, treasurer and secretary.
About You: Experience in non-profits, arts/music organizations or community organizations An interest in community service A passion for music and a belief in the long-term value of music education would be useful A police check and adherence to our vaccination policy will be required for the successful candidate Bandology is especially looking for board members with the following experiences: Fundraising Grant writing Human resources Education
