POSITION OVERVIEW:
Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Mental Health Registered Nurse (MHRN) provides compassionate, person-centered mental health care to individuals across the Robinson Superior Treaty Area. Working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, the MHRN plays a key role in assessing needs, delivering care, and enhancing program services to improve patient outcomes.
This role focuses on supporting individuals experiencing a range of mental health conditions, including schizophrenia, anxiety, depression, and postpartum depression, with an emphasis on recovery, wellness, and harm prevention.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct comprehensive mental health and risk assessments
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans
- Provide ongoing monitoring and follow-up care to support recovery and stability
- Administer long-acting injectable medications
- Monitor medication effectiveness, adherence, and side effects
- Identify early signs of risk and intervene to prevent harm
- Deliver therapeutic interventions and supportive counseling
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate holistic care
- Provide education to individuals, families, and communities on mental health, treatment options, and wellness strategies
- Contribute to program evaluation and continuous service improvement
- Travel regularly to community locations to provide outreach and direct care
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Demonstrated experience in mental health and/or community nursing
- Knowledge of mental health conditions, assessment tools, and treatment approaches
- Experience with administering injectable medications is an asset
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and case management skills
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Cultural sensitivity and commitment to providing respectful, inclusive care
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
Hours of Work: 32.5 weekly
