About the role

OVERVIEW

The Clerical Navigator position is responsible for the coordination and scheduling of all referrals, diagnostic investigations, and treatments for referred patients; ensuring all information is available to patient and care providers prior to and duringthe patients visit(s) to the Oncology/Hematology Clinics.

The Clerical Navigator ensures patients are effectively and efficiently navigated through the cancer care system, this includes liaising with clinicians, stakeholders and community partners. The Clerical Navigator is responsible for monitoring patient satisfaction, as it relates to the patient’s experience in the clinic, and in collaboration with hospital stakeholders and monitor data quality.

EDUCATION

  • High School Graduation or its equivalent required.

  • Graduate of a medical/secretarial/administration program at a community college level or other health care approved preparation preferred.

  • Successful completion of Cerner (ESM/Powerchart) training.

  • Medical terminology certificate preferred.

  • Evidence of on-going education in office administration and MS office application (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) training.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Recent related experience in an ambulatory high volume oncology and/or systemic therapy environment required.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology required.

  • Experience with Plexxus SAP-SRM requisitioning and troubleshooting an asset.

  • Expert in Cerner PM reg, Cerner Powerchart, Teletracking, ANSOS, MS office applications - for example Word & Excel.

  • Experience with Zoom/Microsoft Teams meeting bookings.

  • Expert with the ISAAC Kiosk and ESAS.

  • Expert in Cancer Care Ontario data collection for data quality and reporting purposes.

  • Demonstrated high standards of accuracy and efficiency required. Able to manipulate data to produce timely utilization reports.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively with multiple stakeholders.

  • Experience in providing education/training to adults an asset.

  • Demonstrates excellent problem solving and strong patient centered behaviors.

  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize and function effectively in a busy/high pressure environment to ensure patient care standards are maintained.

  • Flexibility to adapt to a dynamic work environment.

  • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal and written communication skills and experience in dealing with hospital staff and members of the community.

  • Able to manage own workload and is self-directed and able to work independently.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member.

  • Good work and attendance record required.
