Within the organization, the Addiction Services portfolio is responsible for advancing the Alberta Recovery Model and transforming existing services into a robust recovery-oriented system of care across the entire province. The Director of Addiction Medicine & Navigation Services is a key role within Addiction Services. We are seeking a progressive, innovative, passionate healthcare leader to advance the Alberta Recovery Model in our addiction medicine and navigation services across the province. Working closely with physician leaders, internal and external stakeholders, and those with lived experience, the successful candidate will inspire and lead others in system transformation. Description:

The role is accountable for the overall strategic implementation and operational planning for the assigned areas, ensuring the alignment with provincial program strategies and Recovery Alberta strategic and operational plans. This includes developing and implementing site-based plans, ensuring the effective deployment of resources, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and developing collaborative relationships with other Recovery Alberta and provincial programs. The Director is expected to work collaboratively with other leaders to ensure programs are integrated and focused on improving client care. The Director will also work with other provincial teams to influence and inform provincial strategy development, implementation and integration. The role provides leadership for specialty community‑based addiction medicine services focused on early intervention, stabilization, and treatment initiation, including opioid agonist therapy, narcotic transition services and other pharmacological and non‑pharmacological interventions. The Director ensures services are delivered in a patient‑ and family‑centered, culturally responsive, and trauma‑informed manner, aligned with provincial clinical standards and Recovery Alberta’s strategic priorities. Addiction Navigation Services within this portfolio play a critical system role in supporting individuals and families to access the right service at the right time. The Director is accountable for the development and oversight of navigation center models that reduce barriers to care, improve service coordination with community partners, and facilitate timely transitions between acute care, community outpatient services, bed‑based treatment, and ongoing recovery supports.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a health related field. Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible leadership in the healthcare sector. Minimum of 5 years of direct experience in the mental health and addiction sector.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Proven experience and competency in program development, stakeholder engagement, budget management, and leading in a unionized environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters Degree in a Health Related Discipline, with applicable registration in a professional regulatory body. Demonstrated experience and competency in multisystem collaboration.
