Victim Services CaseworkerCompetition No: 2026-VSCDuration: AuxiliarySalary: $37.09 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefitsLast Updated: 5/27/26This is specialized work in providing direct support services to victims and witnesses of crime and trauma. Victim Services Caseworkers respond to police, community and self-initiated referrals to assist victims and witnesses of crime and trauma. Our team offers crisis intervention, emotional support, practical assistance and community/program referrals for victims, witnesses and family members. This position responds to in office and after hours RCMP call-out requests to assist police in supporting victims/witnesses/families in a wide range of incidents including but not limited to sudden deaths, fatal/serious vehicle crashes, next-of-kin notifications, robberies, domestic violence, physical assaults. In consultation with the investigating officer, we provide updates to clients on the progress of police investigations, assistance in completing applications and victim impact statements, prepare and maintain a variety of records and correspondence, court updates and establish and maintain client files by documenting services provided. Performs related work as required.Qualifications include Completion of the 12th school grade, preferably supplemented by courses in social services, victim services, trauma intervention or criminology, plus considerable related experience working with victims of crime and trauma, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of regulations governing programs (such as the criminal justice system and social services), practices and techniques of crisis intervention and follow-up support, practices and terminology used in documenting client contacts and maintaining related files. Sound knowledge of community resources and working knowledge of court and police procedures. Ability to effectively provide direct services to victims and witnesses of crime and trauma, including emotional support, information and referrals, often under stressful circumstances; prepare and keep organized records related to the work; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with police and a variety of internal and external contacts. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Valid Driver?s License for the Province of British Columbia is required, as well as the ability to obtain and maintain an RCMP Enhanced Security Clearance.Pay Rate: $37.09 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits Location: RCMP Detachment  Hours of work: This is an auxiliary position, hours and shifts are based on operational requirements and do not provide guaranteed hours of work, which may include office and on-call shifts. Typical office shifts may range from 9:00-21:00. Typical on-call shifts may range from 21:00-7:00 on weekdays, and 18:00-8:00 on Friday, weekends, and statutory holidays.The closing date for this competition has been extended until it is filled.
