Together, we thrive as we shape the future of health for patients, our communities, and our people. If you want to be part of tomorrow's health today, we want to hear from you.
About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Scientist with a focus on supply chain operations, particularly within warehousing and distribution centers. This role is integral to McKesson’s ongoing modernization efforts in supply chain management, leveraging advanced data science, machine learning, and industrial engineering principles to optimize warehouse functions. The successful candidate will design, develop, and deploy end-to-end data-driven solutions that address complex operational challenges, including labor planning, productivity enhancement, flow optimization, and predictive maintenance.
This position offers a hybrid work model, requiring on-site presence twice a week in Mississauga, aligned with our flexible and connected working environment. The role provides an excellent opportunity to influence operational decision-making through innovative analytics and to contribute to transformative projects that enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels across the supply chain network.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience in data science, machine learning, or industrial engineering within a supply chain or warehouse environment. A degree in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or a related field is required. Proficiency in Python and SQL is essential, along with experience working on platforms such as Databricks or Snowflake. Candidates should have a proven track record of building and deploying production-grade data pipelines and models.
Deep understanding of warehouse operations, supply chain systems (including WMS, LMS, TMS, ERP), and the ability to translate complex operational problems into mathematical models or simulations are critical. Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences are also required. Experience with decision systems, real-time analytics, and automation technologies will be highly advantageous.
Responsibilities
Design and develop comprehensive data science solutions to address complex warehouse challenges, including labor scheduling, productivity analysis, wave batching, congestion management, and predictive maintenance. Create models that directly influence operational decisions, providing optimization logic and actionable recommendations to improve efficiency and performance. Collaborate with distribution center operators and subject matter experts to embed analytics solutions into existing workflows, ensuring seamless integration and adoption. Apply industrial engineering concepts such as capacity planning, constraint analysis, workload balancing, queueing theory, and system flow modeling to optimize warehouse operations. Translate operational issues into mathematical models, heuristics, or simulations to evaluate trade-offs between service levels, costs, and efficiency. Extend analytics solutions across various supply chain domains, including transportation, inventory management, and customer service. Build, test, and deploy machine learning models, optimization engines, and simulation frameworks, managing the entire lifecycle from development to monitoring. Translate insights from analytics into operational strategies and measurable business outcomes, supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Benefits
McKesson offers a competitive total rewards package, which includes base salary, performance bonuses, and long-term incentive opportunities. Our compensation is aligned with industry standards and considers experience, skills, and market conditions.
