As per ONA Collective Agreement, plus additional compensation per Article 19.04 (b), the employee shall be paid a premium of four dollars ($4.00) per hour in addition to their regular salary and applicable premium allowance.

Description
The Regional Mental Health Assessment Team staff member works in conjunction with the Lake of the woods District Hospital, the Regional hospitals Emergency Departments, Outpatient Mental Health, acute inpatient unit, and to deliver in person and virtual specialized psychiatric assessments and care. The Mental Health Assessment Team staff member uses psychiatric/mental health knowledge, skills and abilities to assess individuals experiencing an intense mental health problem.
The Mental Health Assessment Team staff member makes appropriate recommendations for patient care based on excellent judgment and knowledge of psychopathology, risk indicators, applicable legislation and community resources. Provide support and direction to the staff of psychiatric unit as team lead. Requires knowledge and can assist with the RAI tool.

Qualifications
-
Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario,
-
Certified with CNA for mental health and addictions preferred or willing to obtain and/or advanced certification in mental health and addictions preferred
-
Recent continuing education in Mental Health/Psychiatric Nursing
-
Current certification in CPR
-
Current certification in CPI/NVCI
-
Recent experience in Acute Psychiatric/Mental Health with experience caring for patients with addictions and knowledge of mental health crisis and assessment services, crisis intervention models and practices, community resources, risk assessment, and psychopathology

Knowledge of current legislation, including the Mental Health Act
-
Ability to use skills including but not limited to: assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in conjunction with her/his basic and ongoing knowledge to arrive at individualized care planning and delivery
-
Identify and recognize abnormal or unexpected patient responses and take appropriate action
-
Ability to simultaneously manage multiple interventions
-
Strong interprofessional and communication skills

Demonstrated leadership skills
In addition to the above qualifications, preference will be given to applicants who:

Possess recent continuing education in Mental Health/Psychiatric Nursing

Have completed training and possess knowledge of Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN) systems

Candidates will have demonstrated adherence to the Hospital's Code of Conduct.
