Job Description: The MH&ADS Clinical Resource Nurse performs skilled Mental Health and addictions services treatment / procedures / protocols required to stabilize and support those struggling with mental illness and mental health related concerns in conformance with standards established by the Saskatchewan Health Authority. The incumbent will be accountable for providing clinical education within the scope of their practice and policy development in patient care areas within outpatient and Acute Mental Health. The incumbent will provide a leadership role that encourages and maintains a high standard of “Best Practice” and ethical care that is followed by all members of the interdisciplinary team. The incumbent will collaborate with the Manger of Outpatient & Acute MH&ADS, Director of MH&ADS NW, other nurse managers, clinical nurse educators and staff nurses in developing orientation and specific departmental education/in-services.

Experience
- 3 years experience working with mental health and addictions
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
Licenses
- Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)
Other Education and Training
- Nursing diploma is acceptable

Knowledge and Abilities
- Ability to plan/organize/coordinate with other multidisciplinary team members
- Knowledge in principles of adult education
- Ability to facilitate teamwork is essential
- Judgment to collaboratively plan, implement, & evaluate program dev. activities
- Ability to do research and apply knowledge related to current best practice
- Knowledge of the Saskatchewan Mental Health Act
- Demonstrates ability to accept and implement change
- Knowledge in mental health and addictions and concurrent medical conditions
- Ability to establish, positive interpersonal/consultative relationships
- Ability to access symptoms of mental illness, monitor & administer medication
- Sound clinical judgement skills.
- Ability to maintain composure during periods of high stress
- Demonstrated initiative, self-direction, organizational & leadership abilities
- Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development
- Has demonstrated strong critical thinking and analytical skills
